The AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate (SOA-C02) certification was retired on September 29, 2025.
This certification is no longer available for new candidates. If you hold this certification, your credential will remain valid for three years from the date you earned it.
Replacement Certification¶
AWS replaced SOA-C02 with the AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer - Associate (SOA-C03), which became the active operations associate-tier exam on September 29, 2025.

Key Differences¶
- New name: "CloudOps Engineer" reflects the broader operations remit beyond pure SysOps
- Updated services: Refreshed to cover modern operations tooling (Systems Manager Automation, EventBridge, CloudWatch Logs Insights, AWS Config conformance packs)
- Format: SOA-C03 retains the multiple-choice / multiple-response format; the older labs portion remains removed

The AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate (SOA-C02) exam validated technical expertise in deployment, management, and operations of AWS workloads. This certification demonstrated proficiency in implementing and managing production operations on AWS.
